Runners and walkers are welcome as we start this event at the historic Castillo de San Marcos (The Fort), in downtown St. Augustine, run over the Bridge of Lions, and through Davis Shores. The race finishes at Oglethorpe Park, on Anastasia Island.
There will be water stations at the start, 1 mile, 2 mile, and finish. Digital time clocks will be viewable at the 1 mile, 2 mile, and finish.
5K USATF Certified Course # FL10062EBM
The purpose of the USATF course certification program is to produce road race courses of accurately measured distances. For any road running performance to be accepted as a record or be nationally ranked, it must be run on a USATF-certified course. In addition, the certification program is very important to the average road racer, as well as those of exceptional speed. Most runners like to compare performances run on different courses, and such comparisons are difficult if course distances are not reliable. No one can truly establish a personal best if the course distance is not accurate.
Race day parking... There will be free parking at the Castillo de San Marcos until 10:00 AM. There is also free parking near the finish line in Davis Shores on Anastasia Island. There is no transportation provided for runners between the start and finish. However, it is only about a half mile walk when taking a direct route. Many of our participants prefer to park near the finish line and walk to the start, prior to the race.
Parking at the fort (start) is limited and fills quickly. The area near the finish line is a residential area and there is limited parking. Be courteous to area residents while not parking in their yards or blocking their driveways. The earlier you try to park near the start or finish line, the more availability of parking there will be.
If you plan to leave soon after finishing, do NOT park near the finish line as you will be blocked in until the last walker has crossed the finish. The police will not allow you to leave till the last walker has passed.
If you plan on spending the day in St. Augustine, your best option is to park at the city parking garage, located about 1/4 mile from the start at the fort.
Pro tip... The best and most under-utilized parking option is on-street along A1A/Anastasia Blvd on the island. Parking there is free, plentiful, only a couple of hundred yards from the finish line and outside the course (you can leave immediately after you finish).
Overall Male and Female finishers and the top three runners in the following age groups: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and older.
Beautiful and unique tech t-shirt, finisher's medal, and post-race refreshments. Availability and size only guaranteed to those who register by July 1, 2020.
